On the anniversary of the Nuremberg trials in November 2019, thirty-nine people went into their local police station to hand in a dossier of evidence calling for a criminal investigation into three senior politicians.
Some went as individuals; others in small groups. The allegations were in connection with crimes against humanity and the genocide associated with the policies driving climate breakdown.
The case was allocated to the SO15 War Crimes Team within The Metropolitan Police.
On the 3 December 2019 the Met rejected the case. CGAN questioned the decision before sending a number of reminders.
The next significant reply from The Met was dated 18 June 2020, CGAN replied on 27 June 2020.
On 6 July 2020 The Met again replied but refused to answer the range of points raised by CGAN.
Further correspondence from CGAN was allocated to a complaints team, which refused to explain why The Met disagreed with the points made by CGAN.
In 2023 CGAN forced The Met into a position where it felt obliged to reveal its thinking.
Having exhausted all options open to us within the UK, we were then at liberty to take the case to the International Criminal Court. Skip to At The ICC.
